This property is managed by a professional host. But for such cheap accommodation in the perfect location, it really wasn't too much to have to put up with.Details about charges, deposits, or other important information:Īdditional information about polices, regulations, and more: The only reasons it didn't get a 5 rating were the shower, which had great water pressure but took a bit more effort to get the right balance of scorching and antarctica than anyone needs on a hungover morning and the hairdryer, which fell apart in my hands (but which was easily reassembled!). But most importantly, the location is so good that you're within 5 minutes walk of some of the main tourist attractions (or 5 minutes from a couple of metro stations) and a 20 minute walk from most areas of central Madrid - perfect for when you need to stumble back to base in the small hours of the morning from any one of the myriad wonderful bars and restaurants.

Yes, other reviewers' comments on the lack of spoken English are fair, but you'll have to get used to that if you're going to stay in Madrid, where non-Spanish/Hispanic foreign tourism isn't the bulk of the trade, plus the hotel staff are very friendly and helpful in any case. Either ring that buzzer, or if the door's open, go in and you'll come to an internal secure door where there's another buzzer, and say who you are. At street level there's a Joyeria (jewellers) and next to it there's an entrance with buzzers, one of which says Hostal Victoria III. Yes, it can be a little tricky to find, but basically, if you get to the street it's on and look up, you'll see a sign with the Hostal name 4 floors up. Nothing luxury about it at all - it's dated, the rooms are small and there are no frills at all but the beds were comfortable, the rooms were squeeky clean, the aircon unit was perfectly effective and even on the street side of the hotel the noise from outside caused zero disruption. We booked this accommodation primarily because the price was one of the lowest we could find anywhere in the city centre, and it really didn't disappoint. Not to be totally negative the location is good. Very tight spaces and the worst of all is the service. And secondly they explained to us, it does not stop on every floor, only the first and the last, but I honestly do not understand how that is possible. There's only one miniature in one of the buildings, and it does not fit a person with his suitcase. Do not believe anything the receptionists talk about. If you are bigger, like me, there's no turning back in the bathroom, you come in front and back out. The promise of a better room, as we had reserved, was left alone in the promise. You press the doorbell, they open the door, you go up the stairs and in the disabled reception can wait for hours before someone passes and let you know that you have to enter in another building. The address that they inform and where it has the entrance plate, is not the one of the reception. If you are staying here, prepare for a unique surreal experience.
